We just received word from BrowserShots.org informing us of a cool new website and service – Findicons.com. A search engine for icons.
A fantastic resource for web designers, icon designers and graphic artists alike , it’s essentially Google for icons.
The homepage presents the familiar search field a la Google, after entering your search terms, pages of gorgeous icons are returned, much like Google images. From there, you can refine your search results by icon size, colour range , style and license.
With icon design an industry all of it’s own these days, we think this is a fantastic service and somewhere we’ll be checking out often.
Alongside the familiar search methods, you can also browser Icon packs – cool collections of icon designs. What’s more , there’s even a conversion tool that allows you to upload a jpg, png or gif image and the site will send you back a download with your logo or graphics iconised (.ico files) in sizes from 96x96px down to 8x8px! How cool is that?
