Here at Lightflows, we take a team day on the first Friday of every month, and after a busy July, we felt we needed a day out of the office. Another month has gone by since our day out together. We value these trips as it’s a great way to get out of the office and take time to reset. This month’s trip was a hike from Newlands Corner to Shere, followed by a little lunch. Let’s take a look at what we got up to.
We gathered together at Newlands Corner at midday and began our walk into Shere. In charge of navigation were our trusty project managers Hannah and Clare, a couple of us rocked up in walking vests, looking ready for a serious hike.
Creativity is key at Lightflows, we find that being outside and offline can be an ideal way to form new ideas. Some of our best ideas come to us when we least expect it. Taking a walk helps to clear your mind, and helps us get to know each other personally. Perfect for our day out.
Shere was named one of the ‘coolest places to live’, some of those reasons being; the scenery, Tillingbourne river, but most recognisably it is the filming location for The Holiday. The movie was filmed in Shere between Guildford and Godalming, which made the walk even more memorable for us. We understand why it was the perfect filming location.
Now for the pièce de résistance! The most important part of any day out. Food.
We are big foodies here at Lightflows, from our many days out we always find ourselves trying new styles of food. The Dabbling Duck was our choice today. The little cafe is in the heart of Shere and sits just along from the canal. We decided on burgers and milkshakes for lunch, with some of us getting hot chocolates, absolutely overflowing with cream. This was an absolute necessity after our hike. We found that the best suggestion of the day was the mention of Ice cream. When it’s warm, it’s almost a ritual that you have to get ice cream.
Our days out are important here at Lightflows, fostering team building is key to the way we work. With some new faces in our team, this team day was one to remember. Until our next day out!
