The Challenge
QDOS designs, manufactures and retails funky accessories for smartphones and tablets, selling online and through retailers in the UK and France.
The QDOS eCommerce website had an established worldwide customer base, but the desktop-only site was no longer performing well enough for the business. We needed to make a fresh start designing a completely new site which would work on mobile and tablet devices, accept multiple currencies and work in English and French languages.
The Solution
A new responsive Drupal Commerce website was built from the ground up. Through the design process great consideration and focus was placed on making the site quick and easy to use on all devices. This really was a mobile first project, as that is what QDOS’s customer are: mobile first. Throughout the project, the user-experience team revised the product pages many times, it was imperative, we felt, to have visibility of key product features and be able to choose options and buy the product without ever having to scroll, which involved removing any clutter and tailoring the pages down to a pure experience. For navigation, fullscreen mega menus were designed to help customers easily navigate the product and device ranges.
The Results
With great new product photography and a user-friendly structure, the site is now much easier to explore and buy from. Traffic to the site has increased by 300% since the launch in early summer 2014 and sales have grown by 350% month-on-month. QDOS is delighted with this new site, which is bold, contemporary and has great visual impact. We’re continuing to work with QDOS as its adds products to its range.
